No Lucidflow album release is complete without inviting friends, family, pets and robots to the party and, true to form, following Riccimoto's Porn Fiction issuing will be a remix revisit featuring an all-star cast. With the teaser EP - featuring remixes from Klartraum, Zamali, Ivan Garci, Megablast and Tim Angrave - out the way and whetting appetites appropriately, the full remix album is now ready for release.
Kiano & Bangkok tap into an entrancing downtempo groove on their remix of Insallah, straddling the lines between acoustic and electronic to perfection. Classic in style, it does trance without resorting to high BPMs and hackneyed synth drops.
Dialling up the funk, MJ Beck takes Get Ready through a bright interpretation of jangling guitars but with the hint of clouds on the horizon provided by Elimar's melancholic vocals. One to keep held in reserve for when Winter finally starts to relinquish its grip next year.
Helly Larson's does a dub for rainy days with the remix of Natwalk Dub. The beats have metronomic precision, the pads roll like an undulating overcast sky and there is the ever-present texture of vinyl crackle that is more like the patter of autumn rain against the ground.
Andreas Weisz gives us our first main room moment with the remix of Holometabol. It's all about tight percussion, gradually building hooks and a drop to a dreamy breakdown. Textbook.
With Inshallah already being taken through a downtempo path, Weisses Licht takes the opportunity to give it a shot of adrenaline with a sharp and tense percussion driven workout. It takes its time to build before stepping into a driving progressive gear at the halfway mark.
Pazul and Deepling treat Shadows and Lights to the most emotional of all the remixes in the collection. Its kicks are low key, allowing the atmospheric musical elements to come to the fore.
Finally, Riccicomoto steps in to deliver two "deep" versions of Area 51 and Ataraxie. The former goes into soundtrack territories with doomy choral texture, orchestral strings and twangling electronic flourishes. The latter is equally melancholic but far less imposing, allowing you the chance to breathe while its gentle piano melodies drift over the top.
The full Porn Fiction remixes contains all the above plus the already well received tracks from the teaser EP. It hits the streets in December, closing out the year in style for Lucidflow.
